Read Your Bible in 2017

Most people professing faith in Jesus have never completely read their Bible. Many people start reading the Bible but then become overwhelmed by the number of chapters and verses. Did you know you can read the whole Bible in a year by reading less than four chapters a day?  http://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-reading-plan/ has 20 different Bible reading plans available for your use. Some take you through the whole Bible while others help you work through smaller portions. If this is a new discipline for you, try starting with one of the shorter reading plans. You can start any time, you can read the Bible on the site, and you can track your completion as you go. Just pick the translation and the plan you prefer and start your reading journey today. We encourage you in your efforts to become a well-grounded person passionately searching God's Word in order to know Christ fully and apply God's wisdom to all of life.

Maximize Your Bible Reading

Want to make your Bible reading time more effective? Grab a journal or notebook and try the S.O.A.P. method. Soap stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. It is a way of getting more out of your time in God’s Word.

  • Scripture: Write or type out the verses that made an impression on you in your daily reading.
  • Observation: What did you observe about the scripture that struck you? This can be a sentence a paragraph or a whole book.
  • Application: How can you apply the observation so that it affects your life today?
  • Prayer: Write or type out a prayer to God based on what you just learned and ask Him to help you apply this truth in your life.

That’s all there is to it! Why not add some soap to your Bible reading?
