This year we are bringing back Lakeside’s Journey to the Cross event! For those of you who have never experienced or had a hand in creating a Journey to the Cross, here is the big idea behind it: We want to tell the story of Jesus in a creative, experiential fashion, where people can live out the story of Jesus on crucifixion week with all their senses. Lakeside is transformed into the stations of the cross, each room representing a different stage of the crucifixion week. Each room will provide opportunity to experience the journey of Jesus with different senses: sight, smell, touch. These rooms will also offer space for reflection and transformation as we consider how we fit into the story of Jesus in this Easter season. It is a beautiful, heartbreaking journey to walk, but an experience that really shapes the community at Lakeside, as well as the Springfield area. Journey to the Cross has, historically, been amazing for both our church and the community- allowing for a natural, yet spiritual way to get people inside church doors in the Easter season. In fact, Journey to the Cross allows for an easy opportunity for you to invite your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers into the story of Jesus this Easter!
To get involved with Journey to the Cross this year, there are a few easy steps to take! First, putting on this kind of experiential event is HARD WORK. But, hard work is always alleviated when a team of people work together to build, create, and design. If you want to be involved in volunteering for Journey to the Cross, we gladly accept! We have opportunities to volunteer for set up, tear down, registration, and so much in between. Second, for you and others to attend Journey to the Cross, the process could not be simpler! All you must do is go to our website and click on the Journey to the Cross image on the front rotating banner. This will take you to a page where you will see a “register here” button. Simply click on that button and sign up online for the time slot that works best for you to come through and experience Journey to the Cross. We cannot wait to share this event with you and with our community!
